"The Lantern Man"

In the remote village of Dholgram, nestled deep within a fog-soaked forest, an old tale haunted every child’s dream — the tale of the Lantern Man. They said he wandered the woods at night, carrying a dimly flickering lantern, luring lost souls into the trees with his humming.

For decades, no one dared walk the forest path after dusk. Until one night, a skeptic filmmaker named Rehan arrived to debunk the myth for his paranormal web series.

Equipped with cameras, microphones, and an arrogant grin, he ventured into the woods.

For the first hour, nothing happened — just the soft rustle of leaves and distant owl calls. Then, a faint, mournful humming floated through the air. Rehan froze. The sound was coming closer.

His camera caught it first: a dim yellow light bobbing between the trees.

Rehan whispered into his mic, "There it is. I’m going in."

But the closer he moved toward the lantern, the darker everything else became. His flashlight flickered. The humming grew louder, almost sorrowful. Then he saw him — a tall figure in tattered robes, face veiled in shadows, holding an old rusted lantern. His eyes were hollow pits of flickering flame.

"Turn back," a voice whispered — not from the figure, but from within Rehan’s own mind.

He ignored it.

As he stepped closer, the trees seemed to twist and breathe, forming a corridor around him. When Rehan finally raised his camera to record, the screen showed nothing. No man. No light. Just forest.

And then the lantern flared—bright, blinding.

The villagers found Rehan’s camera three days later, lying by the forest edge. The footage was corrupted — except for the last frame: a flickering lantern swinging in darkness and a voice, almost too quiet to hear, whispering, “Come find me…”

Since then, every full moon, a new flickering light appears in the woods — and a new soul goes missing.
